Description
Lead the mechanical design of next-generation high-performance battery systems used in motorsport, hypercar, defence and advanced mobility applications.
As Design Manager, you will build and develop the mechanical battery design capability at BOLD, owning design direction from concept to production while leading a team of engineers in a fast-growing deep-tech environment.
This role combines leadership, hands-on technical decision-making and strong cross-functional collaboration, directly impacting the delivery of cutting-edge electrification products.
THE ROLE:
You will play a key role in scaling BOLD’s battery design function as we move from advanced development into industrialisation.
Your mission is to ensure battery mechanical design solutions are innovative, manufacturable and robust, while developing a high-performing team and driving technical excellence.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead and develop the mechanical battery design team, fostering ownership, technical excellence and growth.
- Own mechanical design direction for battery packs from concept through validation and production.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), supplier collaboration and technical validation activities.
- Review architecture decisions, drawings, BOMs and design documentation across projects.
- Manage technical risks, trade-offs and design iterations in complex programmes.
- Collaborate closely with Systems, Simulation, Electrical, Manufacturing and Project teams.
- Support customer discussions, pre-sales activities and technical proposals when needed.

Minimum requirements
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR;
- Strong experience in mechanical battery pack design.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers.
- Solid background in CATIA (ideally CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE).
- Experience with GD&T, DFM and high-performance materials.
- Experience delivering products from concept to production.
- Understanding of high-voltage and battery design constraints.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-ownership environments.
- Fluent English.
