Description
BOLD develops advanced battery systems for motorsport, defense, and high-performance mobility. As Director of Technology, you will lead the engineering division responsible for delivering customer programs, on time, at scale, and to the highest technical standards.
You will oversee multidisciplinary teams across design, validation, and manufacturing, working closely with operations to turn innovation into execution. This role is both strategic and hands-on: setting the technology roadmap, solving delivery challenges, and acting as the technical face of BOLD for key customers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership & Development of Engineering Teams:
o Provide direct leadership to the engineering teams (Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems) to work cohesively to execute on customer products and internal products for advanced applications.
o Direct ownership of the performance of the engineering organization to create a high performing team. Responsibility to guide and develop team members for the best output of the organization and our clients.
o Ensure the culture of ownership, excellence and customer obsession is maintained throughout the team and is felt in our products, working closely with managers to expand this culture to the rest of the team.
• Product Development:
o Drive the integration of R&D efforts for internal product development, ensuring alignment with BOLD’s mission to pioneer innovative technologies that enhance energy efficiency, safety, and deliver superior performance in advanced battery systems.
o Collaborate closely with the executive team to execute on the product strategy. Align the capabilities of the company with the needs and development plans that realise the vision.
• Project Execution:
o Serve as the primary technical liaison to customers and key stakeholders. Maintain regular contact and represent BOLD’s engineering organisation, while guiding your team to deliver projects successfully.
o Execute multiple projects concurrently, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget, and that they align with BOLD’s vision.
o Work closely with the Supply Chain Liaison and Supply Chain Manager to ensure that new product developments are scalable and that operations have the information to execute manufacturing as expected, supporting BOLD’s mission to deliver innovative technologies at scale in the thousands of products a year.
• Battery Safety & Testing:
o Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments to ensure BOLD products are safe, reliable and certified to the adequate standards for each customer.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team, encouraging experimentation and the exploration of new ideas that drive BOLD’s vision forward with less risk and higher safety and reliability.
Minimum requirements
Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in senior or leadership roles within the motorsport, defence, or highly innovative sectors that must include significant exposure battery technologies.
- Proven track record of successfully bringing new high-performance products from concept to market, aligning with BOLD’s vision and mission.
- Ability to travel <10% of the time to customers or supplier visits.
- Experience and competence with design software such as 3Dx or NX.
- Must be willing to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support critical projects milestones.
- Leadership skills and proactive attitude in a high-pressure environment to ensure the job gets done as requested.
- Maintain an up-to-date technical awareness of the business requirements.
- Fluent in English.
Skills:
- Highly technical person both in engineering and manufacturing that is able to quickly grasp issues and lead the team to solve problems, to ensure we meet our customer and internal project needs.
- Deep expertise in battery technology and engineering fundamentals around structures, manufacturing and HV control systems and electronics.
- Somebody who can overcome technical or project problems when situations are ambitious and there is limited information. This will be required, even though targets for safety, quality, output and efficiency might not exist from the beginning.
- Self-driven individual with high sense of ownership and the ability to organise and prioritise tasks with minimal feedback from leadership.
